| New Board Members Appointed. On May 7, 2008, Governor Ritter appointed three new members to the Authority's Board of Directors. For a term expiring October 1, 2008: Gregory C. Fisher of Denver, Colorado to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Barbara J. Green of Denver, Colorado, and to serve as a member from the city and county of Denver who is familiar with its water problems, and with experience in the planning and development of water projects, appointed. For terms expiring October 1, 2011: Frank J. Kugel of Gunnison, Colorado to serve as a member from the Gunnison-Uncompahgre drainage basin, and with experience in water law, appointed; Ty H. Wattenberg of Walden, Colorado to serve as a member from the North Platte drainage basin, appointed. Jim Hokit of Montrose, Colorado and Bob Carlstom of Walden, Colorado have submitted their resignations effective immediately. The Authority staff bids a fond farewell to Jim and Bob and wishes them the very best in their future endeavors. | |
| Board Approves Small Hydropower Loan Program. The Board of Directors of the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority is pleased to announce the creation of a small (5 megawatts or less) hydropower loan program for 2009 ($10 million of loan funds available) that will promote a clean, renewable energy source for the citizens of Colorado. In addition, the Board has authorized $150,000 (up to $15,000 each) of matching grant funds for the evaluation and development of small hydropower projects. The Small Hydropower Loan Program will complement the renewable energy programs created by the Colorado legislature in 2007 for biofuels, ethanol, wind and solar power. | SB 08-221, Concerning the authority of the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority to issue bonds for certain projects. The Authority is hereby authorized to issue bonds, in an amount not to exceed fifty million dollars, for the purposes of funding watershed protection projects and forest health projects of governmental agencies. | |
